Firstly, Happy New Year!!!!
2023, can you believe it?!
Is it just me or did 2022 seem to absolutely fly by 🙈
One of my goals for this year is to write more blog posts and for this first one I’ll be kicking off with ‘Who is Pixies Attic’
I want to use my blogs to give you abit more of an insight to who I am and what I do! Yes you may see my products etc on my social media, but this way I get to tell you and show you properly!

Most of you may know my name already but for those of you who don’t… I am Hannah, a 39 year old with 3 children (aged 20,14 & 8) & a husband. Also we have 2 dogs, Bella & Mika and also a cat Myla (she is my eldest daughters cat) and we live in a small town in North Lincolnshire, UK
Here’s a few things you might not know about me:
* We bought our very own home in June last year after privately renting for around 19 years 😅
* I can’t stand polystyrene it makes me shiver!
* I’m scared of clowns
* I have Perthes Disease in my left hip - I had an operation when I was 12 & had 2 pins fitted.
* Currently have arthritis in my left hip now and will be needing a Hip Replacement
* Lastly, before Pixies Attic I was a Medical Secretary
How Pixies Attic began
I started Pixies Attic back in 2018 in my kitchen. I suffered quite badly with Anxiety and Depression after I had Freya and to be honest if you’ve ever suffered with any of those, you know it can drive you crazy!
I needed to keep busy. Literally one day I painted a Fairy Door for Freya and I really enjoyed it. It kept my mind occupied and gave me something else to focus on. I remember putting it on my social media and people was asking where I had got it from etc and when I said it was me, they wanted one! I was so stunned because I wasn’t expecting anyone to like them haha.
More people was messaging me asking for one and because money was getting exchanged and I realised I could actually sell these Fairy Doors, I decided to register as a business and be fully legit! I was so blown away and I absolutely loved it!
Day by day, the days that were normally filled with dread with anxiety and depression seemed to get less and less. I’ve said it many many times and I will say it again, Pixies Attic literally saved me.!

I then started to create more products, mainly for children but added some products for peoples homes. My business was growing and at this point I was still completely stunned!!!! I found suppliers who made the items and then they would be sent to me, then I would paint them and ship them to my customers. I did this for around 3 years ish. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my suppliers but I was having to wait maybe 2 or 3 weeks for them to get to my order and then I would be waiting for it to arrive at my home. I think my turnaround was something like 5 weeks or so. I’m not a fan of waiting haha and I hated the fact my customers were having to wait over a month for their order. Sometimes the supplier got my order wrong or they left something out and then that added extra time on 😬 super stressful!
In 2021 I received an unexpected amount of money, I decided to use it to invest in a laser machine for my business. It was always something I wanted to do, however they are so expensive I just didn’t have the funds. So I researched and researched and I ordered one and it’s incredible!!!! It’s literally changed my life!!!! If you follow me on Instagram, you will see some of the reels I put on of my machine cutting orders and it’s just absolutely fantastic!!!! You actually get to see your order being made, how cool is that?! I would be absolutely lost without it. Now, my turnaround is approximately 2 weeks but I always try to make sure they are dispatched before then, it’s just a guideline for you.
When I was ordering from suppliers, so many other small businesses were doing the exact same thing apart from different paint colours. That's not a bad thing but I wanted to be different. I wanted to create my own things for you. My own style, everything. I love sitting and designing new things and watching my machine work its magic by bringing my designs to life!!!
Now Pixies Attic is 5 years old and it’s honestly been an amazing 5 years! I have learnt so much, I’ve made some lovely friends who are small business owners and my customers have also became friends. I enjoy every single day and I am just so grateful to each and everyone of you for your support. I couldn’t do it without you!!!
